Uber passengers will no longer need to wait for their trips to end to inform the company about non-emergency safety issues. A new feature allows users to send comments while in the vehicle.
To do this, you only need to tap on the blue shield icon that appears on the map and choose the option "Report security problem". The application will then present a screen with a comment field.
Uber will contact the passenger after the trip to try to resolve the issue. The section is designed to report inappropriate practices by drivers who are not so serious that they need to call the police.
The example presented by Uber is that of drivers who hold their cell phones while driving. The company identified that, although improper, a practice like this is not usually reported by passengers. This happens due to events that arise after the trip, such as a meeting with friends or a business meeting.
"By creating an extra comment channel, we want to encourage people to share observations when it’s convenient for them, which helps us better identify problems and guide our work to help develop security solutions," said Uber.
The service has gained new tools to increase the security of users. The platform recently released features that record travel conversations and detect unexpected situations, such as very long stops or changes in route.
