Tori Kelly stopped at Kelly Clarkson's new talk show, where they both remembered the not-so-well-known time of singer "I Was Made For Loving You" on American Idol.
Kelly auditioned for season nine when she was only 16, and Simon Cowell said his voice was "almost annoying". She got a "yes" from the other three judges and finally reached the next round, but Cowell's comment was shocking to Clarkson, who told Kelly she is "one of the biggest vocalists".
"I never knew you were on Idol and never knew Simon was like," Hey, you're boring. "I was like" What? "She said.
"I think it happened 10 years ago, so it's funny that people still find this audition, but it was the most amazing experience," Kelly said. "I don't regret anything and I think Simon is cool. No hard feelings. In fact, I must thank him, because it all happened for a reason."
The duo discussed Kelly's recent album, Inspired By True Events, and the "true events" that were brought to the record. "It was a crazy season for me in my personal life," she explained. "A lot of desolation within my family. My grandfather really passed away and besides, on a much happier note, I also got married. It was a lot over the period of a few years. I didn't know any better way to express these emotions than I did." put it in my year. "
"I think it brought a new style of composition for me," she continued. "Looking back, I think I'll be like," Oh, this is my growth album. "
