The press office of the Center for Disasters in the Kemerovo region of Russia initially said two people were injured. It was later clarified that one person had died and two teams were working to save another.
An unidentified man opened fire inside the Magistrates' Court in the Siberian city of Novokuznetsk, killing one person and seriously injuring another.
"A man went to court with firearms and shot someone. An investigation team is working on the scene. The sniper was arrested," the police said.
The press service of the Disaster Center in the Kemerovo region had first reported that two people were injured – a man and a woman, adding that the man had died and that two teams were working to save the injured woman.
"A shootout in the Magistrates' Court building. A man and a woman were injured. One of the victims is a bailiff, two ambulance crews are working on the scene. The woman is being transported to the hospital," the Disaster Center said. .
The agency later clarified that the man had died in the ambulance. A court official, a woman born in 1976, was injured and remains in serious condition.
Authorities have not released further details about the incident.
