The journey will include a special screening and Reuben stories about the 1985 film directed by Tim Burton.

Sorry Dottie, but Pee-wee is a loner. And there are many things about him that you would not understand. Things you couldn't understand. Things you shouldn't understand.

But now that Pee-wee's Big Adventure turns 35 next year, actor Paul Reuben is on his way to talk about the famous Tim Burton movie and tell stories about the frighteningly adorable protagonist and colorful characters like Large Marge, Amazing Larry, James Brolin (as Pee Wee) and even the evil Francis Buxton.

Pee-wee's Big Adventure 35-year tour with Paul Reubens is being produced by Live Nation and will visit 20 US cities and will include a special screening of the movie, followed by Reubens sharing stories about the production of the film. The tour kicks off February 14 in Portland, Oregon at the Newmark Theater and will make stops in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Atlanta, New York and more before ending March 29 at the Warner Theater in Washington, DC.

The Warner Brothers 1985 comedy grossed more than $ 40 million domestically and marked Burton's film debut, which directed such films as Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands and Big Fish. Pee-wee's Big Adventure was the first major studio film by composer Danny Elfman, starting the legendary partnership with Burton on 16 major film projects including Batman, Edward Scissorhands, Alice in Wonderland and Dumbo.

The film was the worldwide introduction to the fictional character created by Reubens in 1980 for the Pee-wee Herman Show, a live production that began at Groundlings Theater in Melrose Los Angeles before moving to Roxy on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood. The 1985 movie was followed by Saturday morning's Pee-wee's Playhouse, which lasted five seasons on CBS and was rated no. 10. on TV Guide's 2004 list of cult shows of all time. In 2016, Netflix launched Pee-wee's Big Holiday, which marked Pee-wee's first vacation in a friend's birthday story and led him to travel across the country, where he inevitably got caught in crazy hijinks and resulting hilarity.
