Changes to 2019

For the first time, the Recording Academy (organization of the Grammy) increased from five to eight the number of nominees in the main categories. This was the biggest initiative in its 60 years of existence to have more diversity among competitors.

Five artists were nominated since the Grammy began in 1959. Other categories will continue to have five nominees.

The 2018 Grammy was performed in January and dominated by Bruno Mars, who took six trophies for his album “24K Magic“.
