SEAT presents its next vehicle, designed for urban mobility, in the MWC 2019.
For the fifth consecutive year, SEAT prepares its participation in the Mobile World Congress 2019, the world reference meeting for mobile technology and connectivity.
The brand will present, in a world premiere, the vehicle that will make a difference in SEAT’s urban micro-mobility strategy.
Luca de Meo, CEO of the company, will present the concept car developed as a mobility platform during the press conference scheduled for February 25.
In this context, the company has already taken its first steps with the launch of the SEAT eXS Powered by Segway, in commercialization since last November, and that will continue to have a prominent presence in the stand of the SEAT in the Congress.
Luca de Meo says that “mobility is changing and with it our role as a manufacturer and provider of mobility. We must be able to manage and offer new mobility platforms that will be the protagonists in the cities of the future. SEAT is involved in many projects in this direction, and the MWC is the perfect setting for revealing them to the world.”
‘5G Connected Car’ underway
Under the 5G Barcelona project, which aims to make the Spanish city one of the European reference capitals in 5G technology, SEAT and Telefónica will launch the ‘5G Connected Car’ pilot program.
This initiative allows the communication between the vehicle, the surrounding infrastructure, and the remaining vehicles, constituting the first step towards a collaborative and autonomous driving.
The XMOBA and Metropolis: Lab teams, two independent companies of the SEAT Group that are dedicated to the development of intelligent solutions that promote mobility in cities, will also be present in the MWC.
At SEAT’s stand it will be possible to know the progress of the Bus On Demand projects, which seeks to improve the efficiency of public transport with a service adapted to the needs of users; and the ride-sharing solution, which allows people who routinely use a car to travel to their place of work to share the ride.
Both solutions will enter a second phase in 2019 and will be available in the city of Barcelona.
