Relationships have ups and downs and sometimes just “be that way”.
That’s the message Kane Brown is sending his new collaboration with Khalid and Swae Lee, released on Friday (July 10). The music, which mixes country with contagious elements of pop and hip-hop, sees the artists turning off the verses while discussing someone they love (even if it sometimes upsets them).
“Maybe I’m better off alone / I hate you blowing up my phone / I wish I never met your ass / but sometimes it’s like that”, proclaims the hook, before changing to a more positive light: “But I’m not myself in nights when you’re gone / there’s no way forward / I’m not afraid to need you a lot / sometimes that’s how it is. “
“It’s about all the different feelings you can have in a relationship,” said Brown of the song. “And trying not to think too much. When it gets hard, you want to be alone, but then you miss the person a second later. I think it’s something that everyone goes through.”
While “Be Like That” is the country star’s first song with Swae Lee, Brown and Khalid have already worked together on a remix of the single “Saturday Nights”.
