Huawei has been one of the strong forces in the mobile market, with clear investment in several areas and has allowed them to evolve in the mobile market in a way rarely seen by a brand. It should also be noted that the United States’ impediment does not prevent it from growing, something that until now has been seen as impossible to achieve without a presence in the two main markets: the US and Europe.
Huawei has been able to show that a Chinese manufacturer can do just as well or better than other big brands already recognized, such as Apple, Samsung or LG and we have verified this in recent years. Highlighted in its smartphones, we have seen a great evolution, both in terms of design and specifications, and in the mobile segment, Huawei can still do something else: smartphones at the same level, at a lower price.
Recently, Huawei took advantage of the Apple event to stand out and launched an image of thanks to Apple. As we can see in the text, Huawei thanks Apple for once again helping it be the great hero of the year.
But is it really?
I’m going to look at some of the main specs we have on smartphones, but they are slow to reach the masses. The one that interests me the most, but that does not come to the market “seriously” is the fingerprint sensor on the screens. We already have several equipments with this feature, including Huawei was the first to launch it with Huawei Mate 10 Porsche Design, however how many of you saw the equipment for sale?
More recently we have Vivo and Oppo Find X, but also Xiaomi has already released its model with this specification. But casting this in the “serious market” and selling it on millions of devices does not happen.
The truth is that the technology has been around for a year, but production should not be able to keep up with the high levels that are needed to be in equipment that sells millions of units, like the iPhone, Galaxy S or Huawei P20, and that will be one of the reasons why Apple and Samsung themselves have not introduced it in their latest releases.
However, the information leaks that have emerged indicate that Huawei Mate 20 Pro will have this technology and if Huawei follows what it has done with its predecessors, Huawei Mate 20 Pro will be available in hundreds of markets and this may be the case. the first step to seeing this technology seriously.
Most of the other features already have a strong presence, such as the unlocking of the equipment through facial reading, as well as the 6GB of RAM is already standard among the top of the range, and the highlight will be the latest Kirin 980 processor, presented in IFA 2018 and should be much higher than Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, which equips the Galaxy Note 9, and its successor, the Snapdragon 855 will only arrive there in March, probably with the Galaxy S10 as it has in the past.
So what about the Porsche Design version?
We already know that this equipment is not for the masses, however, it can be quite revolutionary, as happened with its predecessors and although there is not much information about this equipment, there are already some rumors.
We should look at the comments of the CEO of Porsche, who has already commented that he does not like the “notch”, so it is normal to think that Mate 20 Porsche Design does not have this “intrusion” on the screen, and may even be the first smartphone with screen of Huawei, in the style of what we already see in Vivo or Oppo. I have a curiosity to realize what will be done with the front camera.
Will the frontal chamber be the Vivo and Oppo type, with a mechanical operation, or more of the style of the supposed Mi Mix 3, with a manual operation?
Looking at the rumors and all that Huawei can do and what competitors have done, it will not be difficult to point out that Huawei Mate 20 will even be the best smartphone of 2018.
Is that neither Apple or Samsung brought great news with the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 or the iPhone XS. No innovative technologies or surprises to keep our mouths open.
Not that Huawei will surprise us, but I believe that simply putting the integrated fingerprint sensor on the screen will allow us to reach the big market with innovative technology and, for now, almost unique and unique in the equipment, since all others will have to use importers to do so, since they are not officially sold in Europe or the USA.
There is only one factor that remains to be understood: the price. So far, Huawei has stood out by putting equipment at the same level as the top of the range, but at a better price and the Huawei Mate 10 Pro, for example, was top of the range at the end of 2018 and cost € 879. same iPhone XR, the “cheaper” iPhone of the new era.
And this is missing to know. It is true that the Galaxy Note 9 and the iPhone XS cost well over € 1000, but it was important for the consumer to be able to get a top smartphone at a much higher price and if the Huawei Mate 20 Pro arrived at a lower price to 900 €, with all the technology and innovation that has been talked about and which I also refer to in the article, so this would not make it just one of the best smartphones of 2018, but probably a sales success.
We know that having the best of innovation costs money, but the minimum wage in Portugal is still just above € 500, so the price factor is very important. SEE ALSO … To be the best of 2018, it may not matter to have the best balance, it’s true, however, it is important for the consumer and if we only look at the specifications, then I doubt that this is so, because Vivo and Oppo have more revolutionary equipment, with the main technological innovations and still with the greatest advantage screen in the front area.
They even look like those concepts that we dream of in coming to market. But, undoubtedly, that Huawei has a great opportunity to convince us that the Huawei Mate 20 Pro is the best smartphone of 2018.
