The Federal Government announced an immediate release of R $ 90 million to municipalities affected by rain since April 17.
The information was released this Sunday by the Minister of Regional Development, Márcio Canuto. The politician was in Belo Horizonte, where he met with the governor of Minas Gerais,
Romeu Zema, and with mayors of affected cities. According to him, if necessary, more resources can be released.
Ministry technicians were made available to municipalities to train and assist municipalities in formally requesting emergency resources.
"It is essential to prepare the cities … do not let the papers get in the way at this moment," said the minister at a news conference, quoted by Agência Brasil.
The government will publish an act recognizing the situation of the municipalities and releasing resources.
The payment of Bolsa Família for those affected will be anticipated. Affected persons will also be able to withdraw from the Severance Pay Fund (FGTS). In addition, the Ministry of Health is distributing medicines and identifying SUS hospitals to care for the needy.
"The amount of rain (in Minas Gerais) was the highest in history since the measurement began," said Romeu Zema.
Floods and landslides due to rains have already caused 38 across the state. Forty-seven municipalities had a state of emergency decreed by the state government. In Espírito Santo, 22 cities are under "high" risk alert.
