Artist and animator Jesus Lopez is working with two young children to create a Super Mario game. This will be based on the Super Mario Bros. Super Show, a plumber-inspired cartoon series and his brother Luigi. The series was short-lived in the United States, aired from 1989 to 1991.
As you can see from the video, Lopez himself animates the characters in the platformer. All the design and even the background images are based on the cartoons and adventures of Mario and Luigi.
The question is whether Jesus Lopez wants to hire the original voices of the program. Super Mario fans will surely be pleased to see a game based on a television series featuring their favorite characters such as Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad and the persistent villain Bowser.
Nintendo may prevent game creation
We are talking about an independent game without any official association with Nintendo or the Super Mario franchise. As such, Nintendo can perfectly exercise its copyright and prosecute the game or its creator, Jesus Lopez.
The game is still far from complete, according to Lopez. He says that Super Mario Super Bros. Super Show Game is a personal project that allows the animator to spend time with his children. Who knows, maybe this game will come true and we'll see it for sale in the future.
