Apple Watch is the best-selling smartwatch on the planet, period. Accordingly, analyst Guo Minghao predicts that by the end of the fiscal year (Q4), Apple will have 50% of the smart watch market share. Currently the apple brand holds 47.5%, according to last quarter's figures.
Minghao added that 2019 is expected to total about 23 million Apple Watch units sold. Despite the decline in iPhones sales that has haunted Apple in recent years, the smartwatch market is bearing fruit and very healthy growth.
In fact, Apple seems to be making a recovery in all segments. Sales of iPhones in China (its most troubled market) have been reborn thanks to the iPhone 11.
Why does Apple Watch sell so much?
Minghao cited 3 main reasons for Apple Watch success: design, ecosystem and increased sales of AirPods. The Apple Watch design is quite appealing, so much so that Xiaomi has designed its new Mi Watch with some similarities, especially the round dial.
Regarding the ecosystem, we are talking about Apple, responsible for iOS. The operating system works almost seamlessly across all Apple devices, be it iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch or accessories. This brings us to the last reason that is the increase in sales of AirPods.
Through synchronization, an AirPods user can comfortably control their music and calls with Apple Watch without removing their iPhone from their pocket. It's still early to say but the release of the AirPods Pro will boost sales trends even further.
