Amazon says request for employees to delete TikTok was sent by …

The email from Amazon that asked employees to delete the TikTok app from their mobile devices was sent in error, a company spokesman said in a statement obtained by Sputnik.

“There are no changes in our policies at the moment regarding TikTok,” said the company.

Earlier on Friday (10), several Amazon employees received an email from the company asking them to delete the TikTok app from their mobile devices by the end of the day due to security risks.

On Tuesday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the White House is considering banning Chinese apps, including TikTok, for privacy reasons.

The Chinese government has asked the United States to stop using government mechanisms to put pressure on Chinese companies.

TiKTok is an application to create and watch short videos, owned by the Chinese company ByteDance. It was launched in 2018 and is leading the short video application segment in China and gaining popularity worldwide.
